Lazaro E. Fernandez

It is no coincidence that Mr. Fernandez chose to make bankruptcy the focus of his law practice. He knows firsthand the challenges, and possibilities, of starting over in life.

When he was six years old, Mr. Fernandez arrived in the United States with his parents and brother. They had immigrated to Miami, Florida from Cuba with little more than hope, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to taking advantage of the opportunity for a fresh start. This is what gives Mr. Fernandez a deep understanding of what his clients are going through, not just financially, but emotionally. Many clients feel better about their situation after simply meeting with Mr. Fernandez. They know they have a compassionate yet skilled attorney working on their behalf. Mr. Fernandez notes, “We go through a lot of Kleenex here, but the best part of my practice is seeing the relief and sense of renewed hope on the faces of my clients when they leave the office after our initial consultation.”

In addition to providing his clients with the personal attention they deserve, Mr. Fernandez is dedicated to running his firm in an environmentally sound manner. For example, the firm uses double-sided printing whenever possible. This conserves paper and reduces the weight of mailings to clients and others. The firm also scans every client file when a case is closed and shreds the paper for recycling. (Of course, files are returned to all clients who wish to keep them.) All of this helps reduce the firm’s “carbon footprint” and preserve the environment.

Mr. Fernandez received his B.A. from California State University, Fullerton, in 1984. He earned his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 1987. He is a member of the Golden Key Honor Society; served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Mitchel R. Goldberg (retired), U.S. Bankruptcy Court, San Bernardino; and is a member, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Central District Bankruptcy Mediation Panel. Mr. Fernandez is a member of the State Bar of California, the Florida Bar, and the Inland Empire Bankruptcy Forum (Board of Directors).
